This privacy policy describes how ConnectIT Technologies ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the DateWize application for iOS ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: When you sign up via Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we receive your name and email address from your chosen provider. We do not store your password.
- Profile information: Display name, bio, photos, ward, stake, mission, education, occupation, height, city, and state.
- Preferences: Age range, maximum distance, and dating preferences you set within the App.
- Content you create: Messages, likes, notes sent with likes, profile prompt answers, and reports you submit.
- Verification selfies: If you choose to verify your profile, we collect a selfie image for comparison against your profile photos.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location to verify you are within the BYU-Idaho area and to help you discover people nearby. Location is checked during sign-up and may be used to calculate distances to other users.
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, and a push notification token for delivering notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
- Usage data: We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymized usage statistics and crash reports to improve the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account and profile
- To match you with other users based on your preferences and location
- To verify that you are within the BYU-Idaho service area
- To deliver messages and push notifications (new matches, likes, and messages)
- To enable profile verification
- To moderate content, investigate reports, and enforce our community guidelines
- To analyze usage patterns and fix bugs through anonymized analytics and crash reporting
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With other users: Your profile information, photos, and prompt answers are visible to other DateWize users. Messages are only visible to the participants of a conversation.
- Service providers: We use Supabase for database and authentication services, Cloudflare for photo storage and delivery, Firebase (Google) for analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications, and Apple for authentication (Sign in with Apple) and push delivery (APNs). These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (database and authentication) and Cloudflare (photo storage). We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to view. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Edit your profile: You can update or remove any profile information at any time within the App.
- Delete your photos: You can remove any photos you have uploaded.
- Location access: You can revoke location permissions in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Location Services. Note that location verification is required to use the App.
- Push notifications: You can disable push notifications in iOS Settings or within the App's notification preferences.
- Account deletion: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at datewizesupport@datewize.app.
6. Apple App Tracking Transparency
DateWize does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or participate in ad networks. We do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not engage in tracking as defined by Apple.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your profile data, photos, and messages within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
8. Children's Privacy
DateWize is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a user under 18, we will delete that information promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
